Behind the release
“Dakota (Extended Remix)” is a high-energy trance interpretation built around emotion, nostalgia and the immediate impact of a melody that refuses to let go.
The remix preserves the uplifting character and vocal emotion of Jonny Boy’s version while expanding the production with stronger low-end pressure, a longer club arrangement and a larger mainfloor release.
How it started
The story began by coincidence. While scrolling through TikTok, ALIMA discovered a clip in which producer Jonny Boy presented his Trance edit of the Stereophonics song “Dakota”.
The female vocal, melodic synths and uplifting energy made an immediate impact. Instead of simply saving the video and moving on, ALIMA opened the studio project and began building a personal extended interpretation.
Sonic DNA
A faster, more forceful rhythm section gives the remix the momentum needed for peak-time trance sets and festival stages.
The melodic identity remains recognisable while the extended arrangement creates more room for tension, atmosphere and release.
Additional bass pressure, broader synth layers and a stronger climax translate the original feeling into the ALIMA mainfloor sound.
The remix approach
The goal was never to remove the emotional core of Jonny Boy’s interpretation. The goal was to place that feeling inside a larger and more powerful Trance production.
The arrangement was extended for DJs, the low end was reinforced and the transitions were reshaped to create a more complete journey from the opening atmosphere to the final mainfloor climax.
From discovery to release
A short TikTok clip was enough to reveal the emotional potential of the song and start the production process.
ALIMA developed a complete Extended Remix with additional drive, stronger bass energy and a festival-focused arrangement.
After completing the production, ALIMA contacted Jonny Boy, explained how the remix had begun and received his approval for the official release.
